Showroom Transformation: How a HORECA Venue Doubled Attention and Social Traffic with a Custom EDS Design

Introduction

Word-of-mouth is digital today. For a HORECA venue, the equipment on the counter is not just functional—it is the primary visual marketing tool. If your coffee machine doesn’t generate a photo, a tag, or a conversation, you are losing organic traffic and customers. Many entrepreneurs believe that standing out requires a full renovation; we believe that all you need is an irresistible focal point.

This case study demonstrates how a targeted investment in Prima Musa’s Espresso Design Studio (EDS) transformed a high-end coffee shop, boosting its social media appeal and strengthening its brand identity in a competitive market.

1. The Challenge: Luxury Anonymity

Our client, a small specialty coffee chain, operated in an area with a high concentration of competitors. Their venues were modern, and the coffee was excellent, but the furnishings, despite being high-quality, lacked an “insta-worthy” element that would justify a customer’s spontaneous photo or comment.

  • The Problem: High-end standard machines that, while performing well, were aesthetically identical to those of their direct competitors.
  • The Goal: To create an immediately recognizable visual identity that would drive customers to take and share photos, transforming the brand from anonymous to a destination.

2. The EDS Solution: Design as a Focal Point

In collaboration with EDS, the client decided to radically transform their standard Prima Musa machine.

  • Iconic Finish: We chose a bold and distinctive finish: Matte Forest Green panels (a specific brand RAL) with visible Brushed Brass inserts and details.
  • Integrated Logo Engraving: The chain’s logo was precisely laser-engraved directly onto the side panels, creating a bespoke luxury effect impossible to achieve with simple decals.
  • Tactile Ergonomics: We completed the look with Solid Walnut knobs and portafilters matched to the existing counter, also improving barista ergonomics (Article 22).

3. The Measurable Result: The Business Transformation

The impact on the business was immediate and manifested on two fronts:

  • Increase in Social Organic Traffic (+65%): In the first eight weeks after the customized machine was installed, the number of photos (and associated brand tags) in which the machine was clearly visible increased by 65% compared to the previous quarter. The EDS machine became the venue’s “Star,” generating free content.
  • Increase in Perceived Value (Premium Pricing): The combination of luxury design with high-quality coffee allowed the chain to strengthen the premium pricing on their products. Customers were willing to pay more, perceiving a luxury and artisanal experience justified by the visible equipment.
  • Staff Loyalty: Baristas, proud to work with such an exclusive and functional tool, showed greater job satisfaction and lower turnover.

4. The Strategic Conclusion: The ROI of Design

The customized EDS machine was the only structural element modified in the venue. The client achieved the impact of a full renovation with a targeted investment in a single asset.

This demonstrates that customization is not an aesthetic expense, but a strategic investment that translates directly into:

  1. Visibility: By turning customers into brand ambassadors.
  2. Value: By justifying higher prices and improving margins.

Stopping the acceptance of design anonymity is the first step to dominating your local market.
